Percent Body Fat (PBF)

Percent Body Fat is a more accurate indicator of your health than your body weight or BMI because it tells you exactly how much fat makes up your total body weight. For a healthy body fat level, aim for a PBF within 10 – 20% for males, or 18 – 28% for females. These ranges do adjust slightly higher as you age.

Healthy Percent Body Fat:

  • 10-20% for men

  • 18-28% for women

Minimum Percent Body Fat:
*Essential body fat is necessary to maintain life, hormones and reproductive functions.

  • MEN: 3%

  • WOMEN: 12%

Skeletal Muscle Mass (SMM)

Skeletal Muscle Mass is important for mobility, posture, and strong immunity for long-term health. Body composition analysis shows you precisely how much SMM you have in each body segment, so you can focus on building more muscle or correct imbalances to ensure you have a healthy muscle mass balance.


Visceral Fat

Levels: 1-20

The fat around your organs in the abdominal cavity, a healthy level of Visceral Fat is under 10.

What causes Visceral Fat?

  • Excessive alcohol consumption

  • Sleep Deprivation

  • Inadequate activity/exercise

Lean Body Mass (LBM)

The entire weight of your body, minus your fat (worked out as a percentage).

A range of 70-90% LBM is considered healthy for both males & females, with females closer to the 70+% while males generally are closer to the 90%

Body water levels and how it can alter your scan results.

A lower volume of water in your body can result in:

  • LESS lean tissue (muscle) recorded compared to previous scans

  • MORE body fat recorded compared to previous scans
